Why Are There No Female Characters Seen in Any of the Feluda Movies?

One of the notable aspects of Feluda movies is the lack of prominent female characters. This is primarily due to the material. The stories of Feluda were written in the 1960s when gender roles in Indian society were more rigidly defined. Additionally, the detective genre has traditionally been male-dominated with male detectives and sidekicks being the normal. This can also be well witnessed in other detective movies of that era like Sherlock Holmes where female characters are often relegated to secondary roles. In recent years there have been efforts to introduce more female characters in the Feluda adaptations like in the new Feluda movie, Feluda Ferot where the female character Priyanka worked and assisted Feluda on the case thereby making Feluda's new movie more inclusive. In conclusion, the lack of prominent female characters in the Feluda movies is definitely a reflection of the era in which they were written and the general inequality that existed. However recent efforts have been made to introduce more diversity and inclusivity to the recent new adaptations of Feluda.
